JSSL Sunday Premier League Round Up – January 19th
Top Singapore Youth Teams Go Head To Head
In what were perfect cool conditions for football, the top youth teams in Singapore took to the pitches at UWC East and Victoria Junior College for the 2nd round of the JSSL Singapore Premier Leagues.
The Group 8’s witnessed some excellent and tightly-contested matches that suggest this league will go down to the wire come the final rounds of the season.
Three out of the four matches ended in draws, demonstrating the tightness and high level of competitiveness among this age group. JSSL Girls drew 0-0 with Anza, ISA also held Turf City to a goalless stalemate while JSSL Wilshere came from behind twice to force a 2-2 draw with F-17.
The other match of the group saw newly-promoted JSSL Cazorla lose narrowly to GFA Japan 1-0.
In the Group 10s, JSSL Wilshere got their campaign off to a flying start with a convincing 8-0 win over Anza, while there were good wins for JSSL Walcott, ISA and F-17. In the final game of the age group Anza bounced back from a heavy first loss to earn a point against JSSL Girls.
In the Group 12′s West Coast Boys picked up where they left off last year with two wins in as many matches as they convincingly beat ISA Del Piero 4-0, while F-17 also picked up their second straight win beating JSSL Young Gunners 3-0.
JSSL Wilshere and JSSL Walcott both got their campaigns off to winning ways with victories over GFA Japan and ISA Kahn.
There were some excellent games In the 14′s that saw a surprise defeat for West Coast Boyz losing 1-0 to GFA Japan while ISA Eusebio beat F-17 4-3 in a pulsating end-to-end game. In the other games ISA Keegan beat JSSL Walcott 1-0 while JSSL Wilshere were held to a surprise 0-0 draw by Anza.
Finally in the 16’s JSSL Wilshere beat GFA Japan 3-1, while ISA defeated Football Passion 1-0 and Anza triumphed JSSL Walcott 2-0.
